John Christopher Depp II for his performances has been awarded several awards, including being nominated three times for the Oscar and winning a Golden Globe, an Actors Guild Award and a Cesar.

Depp began his acting career by appearing on the horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street as Glen, one of Freddy Krueger's victims. Two years later, he had a supporting role in the Oscar Platoon winning feature film directed by Oliver Stone.
However, fame came to impersonate Tom Hanson in the TV series 21 Jump Street, becoming a teen idol.

While working on this, Depp starred in the film Edward Scissorhands, which earned him his first Golden Globe nomination and critical acclaim. He later starred in most of the films he starred in, including the blockbuster Sleepy Hollow (1999), Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of theBlack Pearl (2003) and their sequels, Charlieand the Chocolate Factory (2005), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of FleetStreet (2008), Alice in Wonderland (2010) and her sequel Alice through theLooking Glass, among others.

Part of his most recognized collaborations are with director Tim Burton, with whom he participated in eight films: Edward Scissorhands (1990), Ed Wood (1994), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Corpse Bride (2005), Sweeney Todd (2007), Alice in Wonderland (2010) and DarkShadows (2012). In his introduction to Burton on Burton, a book of interviews with the director, the actor called this "a brother, a friend and a brave soul".
